Math Events at Cornell's Virtual Reunion

The Department offered several events at the recent CU Virtual Reunion on Friday, June 11, 2021.  Daina Taimina shared her Crocheting Adventures in Math, showing and explaining many models of hyperbolic geometry that she has created by crocheting.  Laurent Saloff-Coste and Ravi Ramakirshna '88 discussed the evolution of the Department and the University through the 20th Century. Inna Zakharevich and J.D. Quigley hosted a Math Circle problem solving time for K-2 students (and observed by a few teachers among you!).  The afternoon finished with a Zoom reception with the current Department Chair Tara Holm.  We hope to include some online programming going forward for those alums who can't make it back to the Hill.  And we very much look forward to seeing those of you who can return this September at Homecoming!
