Homotopy theory, strict higher categories, weak higher categories, strictification.
I am mainly interested in studying weak higher categories, e.g. infinity-categories. These occur naturally in many contexts, but are difficult to study due to their space-like nature. My research focuses on approximating these via strict higher categories (which are much easier to study), in a process called "strictification." This generalizes the approximation of a space by its homology groups.
