Association for Women in Mathematics

You are here

The Cornell Student Chapter of AWM was established in 2011 and is supported by Cornell's Department of Mathematics. Our chapter was a recipient of a 2017 Cook Award for our "commitment to women's issues and improving the campus climate for women at Cornell."

The goal of the Cornell Student Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics is three-fold:

  • Increase the number of undergraduate women enrolled in mathematics courses at Cornell.
  • Create a network of support for the women (undergraduate and graduate) who are studying math at Cornell.
  • Provide a forum in which issues pertaining to women in math can be discussed.

Please note: people of any gender are welcome! The title of our group is the Association FOR Women in Mathematics -- and NOT the Association OF Women in Mathematics. As such, any member of the Cornell community who is "for" women in mathematics will be welcome at all chapter events.
