Nikita Borisov '22 Wins Goldwater Scholarship

Math major Nikita Borisov '22 has been awarded a Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a national award for students pursuing careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering. Borisov is one of only 51 of this year's Scholars who are mathematics and computer science majors. He is a junior, an active member of the Math Club and a tutor in the Math Support Center. His research on the structure of matrices has been recently published in the Journal of Algebra and its Applications. Congratulations to Nikita!
 
From an estimated pool of over 5,000 college sophomores and juniors, 1256 natural science, engineering and mathematics students were nominated by 438 academic institutions to compete for the 2021 Goldwater scholarships. In total, 410 Goldwater scholarships were awarded this year. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation was established by Congress in 1986 to honor five-term senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona.
