Michael Stillman Wins Visiting Professorship at KTH Stockholm

Professor Michael Stillman has been awarded a visiting professorship in the Department of Mathematics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. This position comes with an award from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, in cooperation with the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Stillman is one of six established mathematicians from outside Sweden to receive the opportunity to serve as visiting professors at Swedish universities. The citation from the Wallenberg Foundation reads, "Michael Stillman is one of the world’s leading experts in computational algebra and algebraic geometry. He is one of the founders of Macaulay2 – an open source computer system. Thanks to its rapid implementations of algorithms, Macaulay2 is now an indispensable tool for researchers around the world, and has completely changed the way in which contemporary research in algebraic geometry is conducted."
