First Year Advising Info Session

If you are thinking about taking math as an incoming student but aren't sure where to start, there is detailed information with answers to frequently asked questions from freshmen and sophomores on the the Department webpage "First Steps in Math." If you still have questions, please join us at an advising info session on Zoom.

This will be held on August 16, 2021, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Eastern Time.

The session will cover information about the placement exams held during orientation, as well as breakout rooms devoted to the following topics (note times of breakout rooms).

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (Room 1): I'm in A&S/CALS and have taken a bit of calculus in high school. How do I decide between 1110 and 1120?

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (Room 2): Which sequence do I take if want to place out of two semesters of calculus: 2210-2220, 2230-2240, Engineering Math, or 2130-2310?

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (Room 3): I’m a pre-med: do I take 1110 in the fall or 1106 in the spring?

1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (Room 4): I'm in Engineering. How do I decide between 1910 and 1920?

1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (Room 5): General questions about courses, the math major, etc.
