Mon, 03/25/2019

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) announced that the 2019 Service Award was presented Michelle Snider Ph.D. 2010. Michelle received her undergraduate degree from Smith College, her Master's from UC San Diego, and her Ph.D. under the direction of Allen Knutson in 2010. She is currently a Research Staff Member at the Institute for Defense Analyses/Center for Computing Sciences.

The AWM Service Award, established by the AWM Executive Committee in November 2012, recognizes individuals for helping to promote and support women in mathematics through exceptional voluntary service to the Association for Women in Mathematics. The award is given annually to a select group of AWM volunteers in recognition of their extensive time and effort devoted to AWM activities.

Dr. Snider was awarded the 2019 Service Award for her concern, care and tireless efforts to bring AWM's message to members through aiding in building the new AWM website. In doing so, Michelle launched herself into learning a new piece of software, problem solving, as well as teaching and working with the rest of the website team, so as to create a communication channel for women to feel connected and to find their place in the mathematics community.

Congratulations Michelle!
